Good morning everyone. We woke up to great news this morning from Tyler & Becca's nurse, Kate. They both had a great night. They slept well, ate well and IV's/PICC Lines are great! They continue to watch Tyler's IV in his scalp very closely, but it has been doing great since Saturday (when the PICC Line attempt didn't work). No IV had lasted more than 12 hours prior this one.
One thing of some concern that we haven't talked much about is that both of them have been suffering from Bradicardia (slow heart rate). They each have typically had 2-3 instances each day when their heart rate drops. In the initial days, they had to be stimulated (slight rubbing or touching) to remind them to breath. The last couple of days, they have self-corrected (meaning when it occurs, they don't need any stimulation to get back on track). Our praise concerning this is that they haven't had any problems with this during the past 24 hours. Praise God!
Nicky and I are off to see them and do our daily Kangaroo Care (hold them for about an hour) at 11:00. I (Tim) get to hold them both at the same time today, for the first time. I can't wait. Normally when we go in during their "touch times", we get to change their diapers (LOL, won't be saying "get to" when we get them home) and take their temperatures. It's nice that the nurses really encourage us to take part in some of their care whenever we are there.
That's all for now. We'll send an update tonight to let everyone know how their day has gone. Thanks again to everyone for your countless thoughts, prayers, text messages, emails and phone calls of encouragement. We can't imagine going through a time like this without the overwhelming love and support of so many!
