Life couldn't be better at the Long household. Both Tyler & Rebecca seem to have acclimated to our home and are doing great! Nicky and I have been a bit busy though and haven't been able to update the blog. We are sorry for that. I know some have been anxiously waiting to see how things are going. Nicky and I are splitting the nights in shifts to help guarantee that we each get at least 4-5 hours of uninterupted sleep most nights, which is one of the better plans we've had so far. When we are off shift, we sleep with earplugs and get to be in our own quiet little world. We aren't quite sure how the shifts will work once I start back to work full time. Thankfully, I'm going to work tomorrow for three short days, then will be off for the next 2 1/2 weeks. After that....who knows. We are so thankful for those of you that have offered to help. We can definitely use it. We are grateful for any and all assistance. Vanessa (Nicky's mom) left today and was a huge help....assisting during the nighttime shift work. She also did a great job during the day...cooking, cleaning, going to the grocery store, walking Chopper, watching the kids to allow us to take naps and spending time with Nicholas. She did it all. Thankfully she loves to cook and our freezer is a bit more full (oh ya, and she love the babies too, so she spent lots of time with them).
We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. It was the best Christmas of each of our lives. Nicholas is doing great with everything going on. He adores Tyler & Rebecca and doesn't miss a chance to hold them and stare at them. He said yesterday, "We need to take some of their cuteness away....there is just too much cute in this house."
For Christmas, he got some fun gifts (including a pellet rifle and a fishing pole). He and I love to hunt and fish together, however we've always had to borrow the equipment. The day after Christmas, he and I went hunting and spent a couple hours in the tree stand (we saw a couple of squirrels), followed by a couple hours of target practice with his new rifle. He had a blast....and put me to shame with his sharp shooting. I dropped him off with his mom yesterday and will spend the next week with her...then go back to school on the 5th.
We are looking forward to you meeting Tyler and Rebecca. We are enjoying the visitors that we've had so far. Most of the time, we are up for visitors - just give us a call. We will be here, 24/7 for the next few months, until we can get through RSV season (March).
We hope you have a joyess New Years celebration. This has been quite the year for us. We look forward to what 2010 brings for the Long's.
Now that Tyler and Rebecca are home, we will continue to update the blog when time allows, but probably not everyday. We truly appreciate all of the love and support from so many during these past two months. This has been the most stressful and tiresome time of our lives. We are so glad to be home. We are so thankful for the incredible care that Ty and Becca had at the ISN at Memorial Hospital. We could feel the love for our babies and us, each and every time we walked through those doors (well over 100 times I'm sure). Thank you guys!!!
Stay tuned for updated pictures. Hundreds have been taken. It's just a matter of time sorting through them and getting them posted. That's where Nicky steps in.....
